Cosmetic Dentistry or Aesthetic Dentistry
is a discipline within dentistry in which the focus is the modification of a patient’s teeth in order to improve their
appearance. Advancements in dentistry have brought about new procedures and new
materials to straighten, reshape, repair and whiten one’s teeth. Any changes
to your smile can make a difference in the way you look and feel about yourself. Below
are some options available to help create the smile you want and deserve.
- Composite
Fillings – In the past, the dental materials that were used were gold, amalgam (silver), and other metal containing
products. While these products are strong and long lasting, many people find
then unattractive and some are even concerned over possible risks. However, today
there are many materials available that are strong and durable that do not contain metal.
These products can be matched to the exact shade of your teeth making it difficult to see that the tooth even has a
restoration.
- Bonding
– Tooth colored materials are applied or bonded to the tooth surface to repair any teeth that are chipped, cracked or
have spaces between them.
- Enamel
Shaping – By contouring the shape of the tooth, small modifications can improve the appearance of the tooth.
- Crowns
– Crowns can be made using a variety of materials to repair fractured or badly decayed teeth.
- Onlays
- Onlays can often conserve tooth structure while repairing & strengthening cracked or decayed teeth
- Bridges
– A bridge is made by crowning (capping) of the teeth on either side of the gap and attaching a replacement prosthetic
tooth or teeth. A bridge is permanently fixed which means it is non-removable.
- Partials
/ Dentures – A partial or complete denture is a prosthetic replacement that is removable.
- Smile
Whitening – Whitening can brighten teeth that are discolored or stained.
Our office offers several ways to brighten your smile including professional strength Crest Whitestrips and traditional
customs trays and whitening gel.
